Sony PS4

Pretty impressive price point and kicking Xbox One firmly in the gonads at around $100.00 cheaper at launch.

Be interesting to see if these "next gen" consoles live up to the hype.

Specs on the PS4 seem damn impressive from what I read though.

Good titles on the horizon as well.

Man I got some catchin' up to do as my current console is one of them $50 Sega Megadrive reissue jobs from Kmart. What's up with ESwat and that daft bit you can't pass.

The new Microsoft console appears to be a piece of unwiped rampant deuce.

It requires a persistent internet connection or it'll brick itself, doesn't allow second hand games to be freely traded or sold, and while it does come with a kinect device, it allows you to search BING with INTERNET EXPLORER while you're playing games. Also there's the likelyhood of streamed ads. Wow. Originally there was going to be a fee directly payable to Microsoft to unlock a game on a second account, but this has faced a huge backlash and now they're allowing free trading between people who have been friends on Live for 30 days plus. Way to stab the EB's of the world in the face.

Sony, in reply, have issued this instructional video.

That's crap.

I used to get highly irritated with Halflife 2 and it's persisent internet connection via the Steam account.

That sort of stuff just makes you want to get the pirated version so you can play the bloody thing.

Even better, the official line from Microsoft is 'we have a product for folks without an internet connection, it's called an Xbox 360'. Head up rampant deuce much?

Sony press conference at E3 made special mention of Microsofts policies but went further to state no authentification required and full support for game sharing ect.

Marketers dream grabbing hold of Microsofts brain fade!

Looking forward to the PS4.
Current Gen console's are statting look dated, especially if you see any new PC games.

Dead Space 3 still had a few impressive displays of graphics. Haven't checked out Last of Us but the Publisher Naughty Dog never fails to impress.

+1 For this!

Sadly the trend is even current gen consoles have 3rd party "rights" bullsh!t which will no doubt translate upwards. Assassin's Creed 4 is the first console title I've come across that requires a code to access multiplayer (and perhaps some single player features like Kenway's Fleet), with extra codes for subsequent users being purchasable direct from the publisher site. Probably can't even use it on more than one account on the same console knowing Ubisoft.

I was very bewildrered that I couldn't access Kenway's Fleet (a single player component) until I got an update and Ubisoft passport.
Strange!
